The day started with a good breakfast, and then I ran to work. We served breakfast for about 60 people there, and alot of cakes and coffee after. There was also alot of people who started drinking beer allready for breakfast, and on may seventeenth that is a perfectly normal thing to do.

In the city centre there were flags everywhere, happy people and booths selling al kinds of candies and plastic toys. There were also two carnivals in town, and all the kids were enjoying themselves very much. It is the one day a year when children gets to do whatever they want all day, and eat as much candy, ice cream and hot dogs as they like.

There were also alot of speeches from this specially built stage. Norwegian band music is also a big part of the day, especially old classics like “Gammel jegermarsj” and the national anthem. I had a wonderful evening, and was so exhausted by 11pm, that I went straight home, and got into bed before midnight. But today is just another regular day, and work is waiting.

I just have to think about the nice things that are going to happen. I have a photoshoot next week, that I will tell you more about later. I am also going to USA in just 9 days, and I am too excited. On top of that, I am moving out from this shared flat by the end of next month, and into a brand new apartment that I don’t have to share with anyone. So many good things ahead, I can’t wait to get to enjoy them!

As you might know, an espresso is kind of a concentrated form of coffee. It is heavy packed and brewed under pressure with just a little water, compared to regular coffee that uses more time to brew with no pressure. Espresso ristretto is brewed shorter than a regular espresso and is more concentrated, while espresso lungo has a longer brewingtime. An americano is actually just an espresso with water. The name comes from the american soldiers who didn’t like their coffee as strong as an espresso, so they watered it down.

If you want milk in your coffee, there are a few different types of coffee macciato or cafe au lait. Because coffee macciato and cafe au lait are just tso different ways of saying coffee with milk. Usually when these terms are used, people are referring to a latte, with a lot of milk. The latte is the coffee with the most milk in it, and also the most liked one besides regular black coffee. If you want a cortado, it varies from country to country what is the standard. Usually here in norway, it is the same as a latte, just less milk and no foam. And lastly we have the cappuccino that is a third of coffee, a third of milk and a third of foam. The cappuchino can sometimes be served with cinnamon and chocolate powder on top, or a fancy pouring pattern.

There are obviously alot more variations with different syrups , like coffee mocca with chocolate and frappuchino that is a different word for ice coffee, but these are the most used ones. What one is your favourite?

I also started looking at apartments in the city, since I live quite far from work as it is now. I also would like something of my own instead of shared flats, since I have been sharing flats for far too long. The ones I saw today were perhaps the best looking ones I’ve seen in a long time. Want them so badly it hurts.

I have also forgotten to tell you that I am flying to Virginia may 27th to visit a friend of mine. So I will be updating a bit less when that time comes, but I will try and take lots of pictures to feed your impatience when I get back. I am so excited I can’t wait!

Bergen might be the city of rain, but it’s still got a place in my heart!

So I am looking on the interwebs for new music to make me feel superduper, and looking forward to an evening with relaxation and gameplay!

I will spend alot of time right here, working. But since I get to spend all day making people happy by serving good coffee and exellent food, it doesn’t really sound that bad. And now that summer is near, people are so nice and happy aswell.

But I do live in Bergen after all, so I suspect that rain will be dominating on the weather front. But I don’t care as long as the sun breaks through once in a while. A sunny Bergen is like a piece of heaven on earth.

Since we are getting lots of customers this summer, we are getting coffee courses, to learn how to make even better coffee. So expect a lot of coffee related things in the near future. I might even show you how to make great coffee at home.

April has been great, but I hope for an even greater May. Things to look forward to is my paycheck, the norwegian constitutional day, more sun, happy people and lots of work.

How was your april?

Needless to say, it felt like the world was against me, and I didn’t even want water. But I forced down some with a couple of fever tabs, and went back to bed with a bowl of ice cream. I watched the incredibles until I fell asleep. This morning when I woke up, it had somehow all disappeared.

One day flu, or just incredibly lucky? I don’t know. But can’t really complain.

The reason I posted the translation of the song was literally cause I googled it myself, and I couldn’t find it anywhere. Since I have a lot of english speaking friends, this is a thing that comes natural to me while talking to them online. When one of them started telling me how he didn’t know what the song was about, I understood that the media hadn’t been telling the whole story, so I figured I’d help them get on the right track. But to get that many hits in a single day blew my mind.

I write about things that I feel are important to me, and this case is in every newspaper and on every page here in norway right now. It is there no matter where you turn, and we can’t help but make up an oppinion about the terrorist and his views on things. I found it to be stupid that international media didn’t give the reason why this song was sung, and found myself in a spot where I could be useful. So I only did the thing that felt right. Spreading the message. Hopefully you will see how twisted this mans views are once and for all.

There are poems and artifacts with the logo of the youth party on them spread out between the roses, reminding us all that the target of this action of terror was acually teenagers, kids and young adults. People who were supposed to live on forever and change the future.

But the two things that appear the most is love, and the lyrics of the norwegian song “barn av regnbuen” that translates directly into children of the rainbow. This because the terrorist himself said in the trial that it was against his believes to learn such things in school, but mostly because it is about equality and happiness.

Edit: There are a lot of people wondering why -this- song was sung by the norwegians to the terrorist, and the answer seem to have escaped the international media somehow. In the trials, the terrorist himself said that he didn’t like how schools were using this song in their educational program. Mainly because the song is about equality and that we should accept each other no matter where we are from, which apparently were against his views as a nationalist.
